What Is Renewable Energy?
Renewable energy is electricity that comes from sources that produce little or no emissions by using resources that replenish themselves naturally, such as wind, sunlight, biomass (agricultural waste), geothermal (the Earth's heat), waves, and landfill gas.
Elective Renewable Energy Rate Program
HBPW offers a voluntary green pricing program that provides customers the opportunity to meet their sustainability goals by electing a higher percentage of their energy consumption to be served by renewable energy resources. The program is available to all HBPW customers, but availability of the rate may be limited. In the event of limited availability, customers shall be enrolled in the program on a first come, first served basis.
All customers receive 15% of their energy under HBPW’s standard rates from renewable energy resources. Customers participating in the elective renewable energy program have the opportunity to elect either 35% or 85% of additional renewable energy. Accounting for the 15% in HBPW’s base rates, this means that participants can elect to have a total of 50% or 100% of their energy sourced from renewable energy resources.
How Does It Work?
15% of the energy you receive from Holland BPW comes from renewable sources. You also have the option to purchase more renewable energy from HBPW at the cost of $0.01 premium per kWh.
