Holland BPW owns three electric generation facilities including the James De Young Power Plant, 48th Street Generation Station and 6th Street Generation Station to help serve the needs of Holland residents and businesses. Additionally, HBPW is in the the initial stages of building a new natural gas power plant, projected to be complete in 2016. HBPW also owns shares in the J.H. Campbell Complex and the Belle River plant operated by Consumers Energy and Detroit Edison.
HBPW also has the ability to purchase power on the open market. Our staff monitor the cost of power and ensure residents are receiving their electricity at the lowest possible cost. Because the cost of buying electricity fluctuates, there are times when it is more cost effective to purchase power from other producers.
